JAYSON: an immersive experience based on the Greek tragedy of Medea

  • Center for Contemporary Arts 1050 Old Pecos Trail Santa Fe, NM, 87505 United States (map)

Dress to impress, slip on that VIP wristband, and plunge into the deep end of LA’s glittering, cutthroat music industry.

360° of monitors surround audiences in this contemporary and immersive version of Euripides’ Medea. After aspiring musicians Jayson and Medea find themselves at the center of a crime, they flee to LA, where Jayson runs into powerhouse music producer, Kreon. Jayson is thrown into the fast lane of celebrity, lust, and a perilous choice between fame and family. As a modern-day Greek chorus, the audience acts as Jayson’s fans and can comment on, affirm, or judge Jayson’s choices as his single tops the charts. Saturated with multimedia and surrounded by live feed, audiences watch Jayson — and themselves — on screen as they catapult towards the show’s tragic and shocking finale.
